La Brea Tar Pits

Today I went to the La Brea Tar Pits. It was really cool I had a good day. These are some of the things that happened when we were there.

The first thing we did was enter the museum (obviously) and are grandma bought us tickets to this 3d movie thing about the ice age. It was super interesting. We learned that mammoths would try to drink from the tar pits then they would get stuck and die.

After the mammoth dies other animals for example the saber tooth cat. Would jump on the mammoth to try and eat it but then the animal would slip and fall off and be trapped in the tar also. Its a loop effect.

Outside there is a model of a family of mammoths. The dad was stuck in the tar and the mom and baby mammoth was trying to get him out. Fun fact I saw a water bottle stuck in the tar who knew mammoths drank from prehistoric water bottles.

Overall I had a good time I can’t wait for the next time.
